THE DANCE OF ATOMS

Copyright 1985, D. & B. Matthews
Recorded at Waller Rd., 1994
A cosmic thing inspired by the B-52s.

It starts out with a big bang.
It's building up like a hurricane.
Electrons running around the nucleus,
Unstable isotope, here comes a gamma ray.

It's the dance of atoms. Everybody's got some.
The dance of atoms, there's atoms in the ocean.
The dance of atoms, it's quantum locomotion.
The dance of atoms.

It's a long way up the energy hill.
Ride in my particle accelerator.
Our opposite charges attract. It's a reaction.
The atoms keep on dancing while we're romancing.

DON'T PUT ME ON HOLD

Copyright 1985, D. & B. Matthews
Recorded at Baxter Ave., 1987
A new car for Alice.

I've got some news for you:
Don't leave your telephone off the hook!
You never know what one call might bring.
Don't unplug the phone or you won't hear it ring!

Don't put me on hold. Don't put me on hold.
And don't hang up. Don't hang up.
Don't put me on hold. Don't put me on hold.
And don't hang up. Don't hang up.

Hello. No one is home right now.
Please leave a message at the beep.

And if I hear your machine on the line
I'll wait for the beep and in case you're home,
I'll give you some time to answer.

This call is not a joke.
It's not a survey or political hoax.
You keep hanging up on me
I'll have to come and see you personally.

And if you don't believe what I say,
You still think it's a joke or in case you're away,
I'll give you a call back later.

Hello? Miss Hubbert? Yes. Who is this?
This is Ted PiePan, Miss Hubbert, and
You have just won ten million dollars!
Oh, I don't believe it.
Yes, that's right, Miss Hubbert,
Ten million dollars and a new car!

IN THE TRIANGLE

Copyright 1985, D. & B. Matthews
Adobe Pagoda recorded live at Smith Springs Rd., 1985
Debut of the voice of the "real" Adobe, a robot.

Sailing from Bermuda in his pleasure craft,
Tanning in his deck chair he's getting real relaxed.
Suddenly a chill creeps over him,
A bank of fog is surrounding him,
The sea comes alive as the lights get dim.
Sparkles swirl around him.
Someone call the Coast Guard.

Lost in the triangle. Lost in the triangle.
Lost in the triangle. Lost.

There's a lost airliner in the stratosphere.
Instruments went haywire, a force has pulled them here.
The sky explodes as the passengers stare
At the eerie lights floating in the air.
The lights are coming nearer.
Someone call the Air Force.

I'm drifting forever in the triangle.
All I wanna do is see what's happening here.
Alien or Atlantean, all I wanna do is see 'em.
If you are lost in the triangle, caught in limbo,
Tell them I am waiting.

MAN ON THE MOON

Copyright 1983, B. Matthews
Adobe Pagoda recorded live at Smith Springs Rd., 1985

In 1969 three men in a ship voyaged to the unknown
To a land where no man had been before,
Their trajectory was set for the moon.
Apollo Eleven was their ship,
Its rockets had seven million pounds of thrust.
The lunar module they called the Eagle,
The command module, Columbia.

Man on the moon. The Eagle has landed.
Man on the moon. The first man on the moon.

Neil Armstrong was the first to step from the Eagle;
Buzz Aldrin was the second man to stand on the moon.
Orbiting the moon in Columbia, Michael Collins was waiting
For docking when the Eagle returned.

A few hours on the moon, back to Earth in 3 days,
They landed with a splash in the ocean.
After three trips quarantines were lifted,
Moon Base was established,
With colonizing came a new home for man.

LUNAR CITY LANDING

Copyright 1984, D. & B. Matthews
Recorded at Smith Springs Rd., 1980
Lunar Patrol was a sort of garage band
with David, Becky, John, Jimmy and Bob.

We will now depart the ship
And enter the tunnel to the city.
As you see this is the greenway
Where the food is grown.
You will note design for beauty
And for self-sufficiency.
See the irrigation rivers
Flowing to your left and right.

As we come into Lunar City
We'll ascend the observation tower.
From here you can see all the city.
In the distance you can see the pleasure dome.

Now we will continue on our journey
Through the model city of the universe.
Look out the windows of our cruiser now.
See the streets of schools,
They house the genius of the galaxies.
Now we pass the fountains
Flowing to the lakes and rivers.

See how clear our air is.
We've harnessed the sun for our power.
Our citizens are healthy and happy.
Their time and their minds are their own.
We now approach the pleasure dome.
Once there you may not want to go home.

Step right in, enjoy your pleasure,
Indulge your sensuality.
You can take it at your leisure,
Earth-time has no meaning here.
Hook up to the electric glider,
See meck-serv for food or potions,
Find yourself a floating chair,
And we will hear some lunar music now.

This is Lunar Patrol.
We play Lunar rock n roll.
We call it: moon rock, moon rock.
We'll share tales from other centuries,
Songs of distant galaxies.
We're Lunar Patrol!

THE VAPORS OF VENUS

Copyright 1984, B. Matthews
Adobe Pagoda recorded live at Smith Springs Rd., 1985

The first explorers are back from Venus,
There's something different about them.
I've seen their faces all aglow,
Now everyone's wanting to go to Venus.

Have you seen the way their faces shine,
Like the vapors cleansed their minds?
Scientists say it seems to be a virus,
The explorers caught it from a cloud on Venus.

The virus from the vapors of Venus
Is spreading now, the isolation failed.
Isn't it so wonderful to see our faces shining
From the virus of the vapors of Venus?

WEIGHTLESS WORLD

Copyright 1984, D. & B. Matthews
Adobe Pagoda recorded live at Smith Springs Rd., 1985

I wake up standing,
Drink my coffee from a packet,
To go outside I wear
My pressurized pants and jacket.

Living in a weightless world, (I live in zero gravity.)
Living in a weightless world (with zero-g technology),
Living in a weightless world, (I like it here in zero-g.)
Living in a weightless world (with zero-g mobility).

When I used to be a heavy
I used to toss the ball around,
But here in zero gravity
What goes up does not come down.

I walk on walls,
I spin off from the ceiling,
But when I see you,
That's when my head starts reeling.

And now, here's a song
very close to my cybernetic heart,
a love song about robots and rockets.

AGEE

Copyright 1984, D. & B. Matthews
Adobe Pagoda recorded live at Smith Springs Rd., 1985
Inspired by "The Ship Who Sang" by Anne McCaffrey.
Chord pattern: A G E E

A thousand years ago we fled a flaming galaxy,
Looking for new sunsets and alien seas.
The people never knew they'd force us to this.
They never knew a love like this could exist.
Agee. Agee.

Those awful people just wouldn't leave us alone,
Because you're a ship and I am a clone.
Agee. Agee.

We had to hide our love so long till your circuits did overload.
We had to let those humans know our passion's not a joke.
Maybe it's the best thing they've ever done,
To make a perfect ship and a perfect clone.
Agee. Agee. Agee.

BOUNCE BOX

Copyright 1984, D. & B. Matthews
Recorded at Smith Springs Rd., 1979
A song about teleportation. The recording
evolved from a party with Liz, Dakin,
Becca, Daven Becky.

You take the low road and I'll take the high road
And I'll be in Scotland before you,
For me and my mind, we travel all through time
With my bonny, bonny Bounce Box to Loch Lomond.

Take the low, I'll take the highway.
My Bounce Box moves me through the sky.
I can travel anywhere, my mass transporter takes me there.
Away, I'll fly away.

Faster than the speed of light, I'll be there.
Floating, like a falling leaf in the air.
I take my Bounce Box in my hand,
I touch the keys and I can land anywhere.

Slip through time and sail away.
Glide through currents of space.
While your body safe and warm
Travels with you away from harm,
I don't know why we don't go.

Faster than the speed of light, I'll be there.
Floating, like a falling leaf in the air.
And soon the people all will fly,
They'll float from Earth and all will sail away.
We'll sail away.

ENERGY SHORTAGE

Copyright 1984, D. & B. Matthews
Recorded at Smith Springs Rd., 1979
Another party recording with Bobby,
Dakin, Liz, Van, Daven Becky.

Use it up. Driving to the station where you
Fill it up. The wait in line has made you late you
Speed it up. Trying to get home so you can
Smoke it up. Walk into the door and you
Use it up. The house is dark, you have to
Light it up. You're feeling cold, you
Heat it up. Turn on your TV and you
Leave it on.

But when you're here beside me I feel excited,
Electrons spinning in me.
You are my solar power, my hydroelectric generator.
No energy shortage here, no energy shortage here,
No energy shortage here, no energy shortage!

You're all worn out from the day.
You seem to be working your strength away.
The dishes have been in the sink since Saturday.
Still haven't gotten around to the bills you have to pay.

When we're alone together
I feel the force of a power growing in me.
You are my Benzedrine, my cocaine,
And my bi-amphetamine.

No energy shortage here, no energy shortage here,
No energy shortage here, no energy shortage!

YOUR AUNT'S HOUSE

Copyright 1983, D. & B. Matthews
Studio recording, 1985
Becky's dream on the cruise ship!

As we walked into the village we walked into a dream.
We walked by an open bar, winds carried me away.
The devil had me in his breath; I could fly.

Gliding higher, higher still, I knew I must come down.
I thought I couldn't do it till I saw you on the ground.

Your aunt's house is evil. Your aunt's house is magic.
Your aunt's house is evil. Your aunt's house is magic.

We walked into a courtyard trying to escape the spell.
I thought we had it beaten until I realized
There were uniforms around us, bombs falling from the sky.
We ran into a shelter, we saw many people die.

Your aunt's house is evil. Your aunt's house is magic.
Your aunt's house is evil. Your aunt's house is magic.

Under a spell we walked to see the house where she once lived.
I stood on the foundation edge, the house began to grow.
It raised up from the ground and it carried me up high.
I realized I must escape and I began to fly.
If I could not reach you far below I knew that I would die.

Gliding higher, higher still, I knew I must come down.
I thought I couldn't do it till I saw you on the ground.

Your aunt's house is evil. Your aunt's house is magic.
Your aunt's house is evil. Your aunt's house is magic.
